Summary

The antifascist propaganda among Italian prisoners of war in the USSR (Maria Teresa Giusti)

This article analyses the antifascist propaganda directed al Italian war prisoners in the USSR during World War II Drawing from documents of the Komintern only recently made available, the author describes how political work among prisoners was organised and what its objectives were; she also considers the structure of antifascist "groups" and antifascist schools. Russian documents show how hard the prisoners' life-conditions were, so much that most of them were led to death. They also illustrate the efforts of NKVD, which, through political propaganda, aimed at reaching the complete indoctrination of those prisoners who succeeded in surviving and accepted to attend the antifascist schools.
